Chris Somerville has a record of diligent and resourceful advocacy in a wide range of cases. His experience and skills cover commercial and civil litigation in general, and securities litigation, administrative law, and employment disputes in particular.


  • Frequently represents investment dealers and advisors in a variety of matters.
  • Research assistant to the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) Investor Advisory Panel, while articling at a national, full-service law firm (2010-2011).
  • Won First Place Pair and Second Place Factum at the 2009 Laskin constitutional and administrative law moot, where he mooted in French.
  • Received the John Yaremko Award in Human Rights during law school at the University of Toronto. Chris also created and led a student research team focusing on indigenous rights, foreign investment, and natural resources for the faculty's International Human Rights Program (2009-2010).
  • Before law school, Chris co-wrote a documentary film on barriers to girls' education in Northern Ghana, where he participated in the World University Service of Canada's International Seminar. Chris was also a competitive university debater and served as the Treasurer of the Canadian University Society for Intercollegiate Debate.
