Renai is an experienced and trusted adviser to CEOs, Boards and senior management across a range of industries, including as in-house counsel, in the telecommunications, energy, medical, and consumer goods sectors.

Throughout her career, Renai has been actively involved in high profile merger matters and has worked closely with her clients to craft competition remedies, including by way of undertakings. Renai has experience advising companies and individuals with respect to allegations of price fixing (both domestically and internationally), refusal to deal, third line force and advertising practices.

Renai is dedicated to delivering commercial, solutions-focused advice in the areas of commercial litigation and competition law.

Highlights

  • Drafted complex regulatory submissions on proposed legislative amendments and regulatory pricing principles as Regulatory & Competition Counsel for Australia's third largest telecommunications carrier. Acted as instructing solicitor for AAPT in the successful defence of a High Court application to declare void key aspects of the Australian telecommunications access regime.
  • Designed and drafted a comprehensive risk management strategy for one of North America's largest medical implant manufacturers which proved effective in substantially reducing the company's product liability litigation.
  • Successfully represented one of Australia's most recognisable motel brands in a complex, multi-million dollar action including breach of contract, negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, misrepresentation, and estoppel.
  • Acted for BNP Paribas on two corporate fraud matters involving interaction with the Australian Federal Police, obtaining injunctions and orders for production from international courts, and requiring the tracing of funds through a myriad of international bank accounts.
